Many times, it’s far easier to focus on the negatives, rather than the positives. However, it’s important to take a moment and remember all of the great things in our lives for which we should be thankful. Here are the top twenty things on my holiday gratitude list this year, each of which is a great reminder for you to treasure everything in your life!

Andrew Roche’s Holiday Gratitude List

Good Health

Even if your health is less than ideal, it could always be a whole lot worse, so celebrate the working parts that you do have!

Money in the Bank

Even if you don’t have a pool filled with cash like Scrooge McDuck, the savings you have set aside makes you a whole lot wealthier than most people on Earth.

Good Friends

Remember, it’s quality, not quantity. Appreciate your inner circle of friends who will always have your back no matter how nasty things may get.

Freedom of Religion

Way too many people take this one for granted. The ability to worship whomever and however you want is something many people never experience in their lifetime.

Holiday Gratitude Family

Your Parents

Even if you butt heads with your mother and/or father every now and then, they gave you life…never forget that.

Weekends

I dunno about you, but there’s just something magical about weekends.

Having a Partner

That special someone by your side can teach you so much about the world and yourself.

Furry Friends

Let’s be real here, the best part of your day is waking up to the unconditional love of your pet(s).

Holiday Gratitude Mistakes

If we didn’t make mistakes, we would learn very much, so appreciate the opportunity to learn and grow as human beings.

Opportunity to Get an Education

The opportunity to attend school is a privilege that many people don’t have.

A Roof Over Your Head

Whether you live in an apartment, a mansion, or a tent, having a place to call home is most definitely something for which to be thankful.

The Ability to Read

If you’re reading this right now, consider yourself extremely fortunate.

Fresh Air

The ability to step outside and inhale a deep breath of fresh air is a great reminder to not take the little things for granted.

A Bed

Your bed, whether it be a twin or a California King, is one of those things most take for granted…until they don’t have one.

Holiday Gratitude Laughter

Laughter

Without laughter, the world would be a very dark and sad place.

Safety &  Security

Living in a world free of intense fear allows us to truly live life, so take a moment to thank the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our great nation.

Clean Water

Clean, running water is another one of those things that we take for granted living in a first-world nation.

Love

The world would be a vastly different place if we lacked the ability to love one another.Holiday Gratitude Pain Growth

Pain

In a world void of pain, it’s impossible to truly appreciate the joys of life.

Freedom of Speech

Never take the ability to express your thoughts and feelings freely for granted.
